Charge at home, with the 2026 state subsidy
Charging your electric car at home means greater everyday convenience. Enelec, an approved electrician based in Garnich, designs, installs and optimises charging points for homeowners, co-ownerships and businesses throughout the Grand Duchy. Our brands include Mennekes and Zaptec.
A standard household socket is not designed to deliver high power for several hours every night. A dedicated charging point (“wallbox”), connected to its own protected circuit from the electrical panel, offers several advantages:
A standard charging point charges the vehicle, nothing more. It suits a detached house with regular use and no particular need for monitoring.
A smart charging point (known as “connected”) collects and transmits session data, receives remote commands and communicates via an open protocol, typically OCPP 1.6 or higher. This is the preferred solution if you want to track your consumption, share a charging point between several users or prepare for the future. In an apartment building, the draft 2026 aid scheme also requires OCPP-compatible smart charging points (or ones managed by a collective load management system).
Please note: according to the draft scheme published on guichet.public.lu, any charging point installed from 1 January 2027 will have to comply with the EN ISO 15118-20:2022 standard to qualify for the aid. If you are installing now, this is a criterion to take into account when choosing the model: we will advise you on this during the assessment.

Important: this scheme is based on bill no. 8577, which, as of that date, is shown as “currently in draft and not yet definitively published”. The amounts and conditions below may therefore still change. The previous scheme ended on 31 December 2025; the text provides for retroactive application from 1 January 2026, but no aid can be paid until the law has entered into force (the press has reported a suspension of payments since early 2026). Always check the current situation on guichet.public.lu before deciding.
What the draft provides (individuals):
Main conditions:
Enelec provides you with a detailed invoice and completes the part of the file that falls to the installation company. The application itself remains in your name.
In a residential building, the charging point is planned together with the co-owners. The draft scheme distinguishes two cases:
A collective approach avoids multiplying individual connections and makes it possible to share the available power between parking spaces. We can assess the building's existing installation and propose a scalable solution to the property manager.
If your consumer unit is old or at full capacity, upgrade to current standards or a partial renovation may be required before installation: we will point this out during the assessment.

According to the draft scheme published on guichet.public.lu (checked on 3 November 2026), the aid covers 50% of the cost excl. VAT of the charging point and its installation, capped at 750 € (standard charging point), 1 200 € (smart charging point) or 1 400 € (EN ISO 15118-20:2022-compliant charging point invoiced in 2026). As bill no. 8577 had not yet been definitively published at that date, these amounts may change.
As of the date checked, the scheme is still shown as “in draft”. The text provides for retroactive application from 1 January 2026, but payments can only be made once the law has entered into force. Keep your invoices and supporting documents safe.
A new charging point above 3.7 kW, installed in Luxembourg in a location not accessible to the public, by an approved electrician such as Enelec; a certificate of conformity from the grid operator; an invoice dated between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2030. The application must be submitted no later than one year after 31 December of the year of the invoice.
A standard charging point is sufficient for basic use at home. A smart charging point (OCPP-compatible) enables session tracking, remote control and power management; it is required in apartment buildings under the draft scheme and qualifies for a higher aid cap.
Yes. A co-owner or tenant can have a charging point installed in their parking space, and the association of co-owners can set up a collective load management system, subsidised at 50% excl. VAT up to 40 000 € per system under the draft scheme. The project must be organised with the property manager.
It depends on your consumer unit, the available power and the distance to the parking space. Enelec carries out an on-site assessment and tells you whether the consumer unit needs adapting or bringing up to standard before installation.
